Lynyrd Skynyrd sang songs that were hits when they first were released and continue on being hits today. My personal favorite is Free Bird. Although all of their songs kick ass. Here is a listing of some of their songs (the ones with links go to a text version of the lyrics):

A Brief (and yes I do mean brief) History
Lynyrd Skynyrd was one of the earliest rock bands from the Classic rock era. There songs did have a southern twang to them, but thats what made them also one of the first Southern Rock 'n' Roll bands. They underwent a drastic tragedy though when there plane crashed into the swampy lands of the south. The crash killed lead singer Ronnie VanZant. Ronnie was also one of the founding fathers of the band. His brother now is the lead singer of the band taking over in his absence.
